| In September of 2009, in just our second campaign to change the course of the Screen Actors Guild and protect professional performers, Unite for Strength candidates won 21 of the 33 seats open on SAG’s Hollywood Board, which means that Unite for Strength representatives now make up nearly half of SAG’s Hollywood Directors. What’s more, four of those 21 were also elected to serve as members of SAG’s National Board. Along with UFS national directors elected in 2008, these new national directors helped insure that a solid majority of SAG’s national leadership is made up of progressive performer representatives committed to finding strength in unity. We hope all our supporters will take pride in the part they’ve played in making this critical shift. Important steps have already been made, but there’s a great deal more to be done in the next 20 months; UFS will be counting on continued support as we work to create the powerful, unified representation that professional media performers need and deserve. | |
